The Profile

I Am Kloot were an English indie rock band from Manchester, formed in 1999 by John Bramwell (vocals, guitar), Peter Jobson (bass) and Andy Hargreaves (drums). Their 2010 album Sky at Night was nominated for the Mercury Prize; the group ceased activity around 2016.

Known for literate, sardonic songwriting and intimate arrangements; notable songs include Proof, From Your Favourite Sky and 86 TV's. Sky at Night (2010) was produced by Guy Garvey and Craig Potter of Elbow and received a Mercury Prize nomination.

Two glowing DeBaser takes capture I Am Kloot’s bite: a razor-edged 2003 Milan gig and the nuanced debut Natural History. The reviews praise Bramwell’s witty stage presence, lyric focus, and the trio’s ability to tint indie-rock with blues and jazz. Songs like Twist, 86 TV's, Storm Warning, and A Strange Arrangement Of Colour get shout-outs. Overall verdict: intelligent, muscular, and anything but flimsy ‘new acoustic’.
