THE REVIEW

The Husky Rescue are a Finnish Ambient-Pop group formed in 2002 and this "Country Falls" is their first album, released in 2004.

I don't know about you but I discovered them with the 2008 Beck's Next commercial and immediately fell in love with that ad perfectly in sync with "Rainbow Flows," one of their best tracks, the carefree vibe of a single with their friends on a skyscraper terrace calmly drinking a beer, watching the clouds go by and the sun set, leaving behind a golden and poignant aura. Scary, huh?

But back to the album; the album is very good, at times a bit boring because it's repetitive, but there are at least 7-8 tracks that deserve a listen.

The best ones are the sweet and delicate "Sweet Little Kitten" and "Sleep Tight Tiger", "New Light of Tomorrow" recovering from a sleepless night spent driving around the streets waiting for dawn, the robotic "Gasoline Girl" and the eighth wonder "Rainbow Flows".

Then there are some intriguing cases (at least to me) like the 3 minutes of silence in "Mean Street" or the spoken word accompanied by a harmonica in "The Good Man", which given my poor language skills I don't think I fully understood, but it should talk about an almost regretful "superman" for being born super instead of perhaps a doctor (to make his mother immortal), and the closing track "The Man Who Flew Away" which lasts only 1:33 and is almost all the same.

The atmosphere is filtered and semi-nocturnal, except for "Summertime Cowboy" which even includes laser shots.

The main singer is a woman named Reeta-Leena Korhola.

Even though it might not seem like it, the entire album is pervaded by a sense of melancholy and underlying solitude, which makes it all the more fascinating.

If someone found it in Rome, please let me know where because it's hard to find and I'd be very grateful.

Did I do well with my little task? Have I been good?

In conclusion, let me say: "Better a lousy review than no review at all."
