LET'S START from the assumption that we are in Italy... and already this amplifies the difficulties...
LET'S CONSIDER the fact that everyone wants, indeed demands, good music, but NOBODY really knows what they precisely want... and this certainly doesn't help to simplify things...
GIVEN that we can't force Josh or Mario (don't hold it against me) to tattoo a butterfly on their groin... no matter how beautiful it might be to look at...
I start by giving my opinion on a band that has it all: HUNGRYHEART!!!
Rock? Of course!!!
Melodic? Absolutely!!
AOR? Without a doubt!!
BUT ABOVE ALL PASSION!!!
Let's talk about a band from the Lodi area that has dived into the piranha pool of today's music with their own strength, willpower, passion, and above all, with their own pockets!!! And already here, the respectometer should be sky-high!!!
Their undeniable success comes with "ONE TICKET TO PARADISE"; their second album and masterpiece which has the honor of opening the dance with a rightful "STAND UP" and if that's not enough, the title track "ONE TICKET TO PARADISE" will make pub owners happy... or at least the few who, alas, today have the courage to present live music!!
Josh is the quintessential frontman and the right balance between voice and instruments. The atmosphere heats up to the point where Mario, besides having an excellent vocal tone and, armed with his virtuosity, gets heavy with his guitar, making it strum the solo of "LET SOMEBODY LOVE YOU". Steve lets the waves of his hair sway as his fingers dance on the bass strings. And Paolo?! Guys, I wouldn't want to be the snare drum in their live shows!!! Also because actual skill is measured on stage and they are always present for the call!!! There's even space for the femme fatale. "ANGELA" is the middle track that gives the right boost, even hormonally, at the turning point.
"BOULEVARD OF LOVE", "JUST A LITTLE CLOSER" and "YOU WON'T BE ALONE" give the same emotions that in the Eighties REO Speedwagon and Survivor made us feel.
And then? let's give Caesar what is Caesar's... but also what isn't... then let's make another effort (which indeed it isn't) and give space to these HUNGRYHEART who, also with great humility, a glance at the sky and a finger pointed to the infinite, pay tribute to Michael Jackson with "MAN IN THE MIRROR": "If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change".

Second studio work, second bullseye.
At the moment (for me), the best hard rock album of 2010, and the fact that it was made by an Italian band can only be pleasing.
