The Hogwash are for me a surprise, positive and unexpected. Discovered a few days ago at the concert of the more renowned Verdena as a supporting band, I was immediately enveloped by a sense of positivity seeing them play with an uncommon tranquility.
This third work of theirs seems to be far from their initial sound, especially from their first album "Fungus Fantasia" oriented towards more grunge horizons, and this has only enhanced their originality and expressive capacity.
It starts with "Better So", a well-crafted piece where the two guitars perfectly intertwine, the slightly tense voice of singer/guitarist Enrico R. seems to blend beautifully with the atmosphere that permeates the track. It continues with "bribe", a nice bass/guitar introduction and a melody to spare, as well as "Stock Phrase" and "Prank Calls". At first impact it seems like you are facing something already heard, and perhaps all this may also be true, but one shouldn't be influenced by this aspect, especially when playing are our fellow countrymen who have everything it takes to give us something good for the ears again.

Almost unnoticed as usually happens to supporting bands, I liked the Hogwash and will continue to like them for a long time, especially with this album which, according to bassist Giuseppe B., represents the sum of their career (at least for now). It was touching the situation in which I found myself when I bought the CD (along with their first album): it was sold to me, as often happens at concerts, by the bassist himself who, recommending the purchase, pointed out this "atombombproofheart" as the best album of their discography, and when he saw that I would also take the first one, he opened his eyes wide, then closed them again with that face as if to say, thank you very much, followed by... a pat on the shoulder... and again "thank you guys". Well, these are the things that make me feel good; I helped a semi-unknown band, giving them the rightful recognition for their effort, for their love of music; this is what we should all do, and I think you do, because it's only right that it should be so.

However, tear-jerking speeches aside, returning to the album, in my opinion, this work is excellent, and presents us with a band with a very American sound, oriented towards sounds dear to the Seattle scene.
