LA RECENSIONE

Amazing! Riding the wave of enthusiasm from the fifth listen in two days, I feel the need to write, even if hastily and confusedly, the sensations this double CD has given me!

Well, one can only bow down before these live recordings dated 1978! The double CD I have in my hands is from 1998 and reproduces the original remastered recording: the sound is full and clear and, as stated in the booklet, those parts where the sound slightly dropped in quality have been included for the sake of completeness and to keep intact the magic emanating from the hands of the two pianist-composers.

Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea meet and clash, their pianos collide, resulting in an absolutely contagious energy. The music unleashed is evocative, captivating, and engaging; no one can be disappointed by listening to this album.
Don't like solo piano? Don't listen to jazz? No worries, listen to it anyway and you'll experience something unique. For an hour and a half, H.H. and C.C. roll out a repertoire ranging from classical to jazz, embellishing the pieces with sparkling digressions and improvisations. The best, in my opinion, is contained in the second CD and particularly in the closing track "La Fiesta," 22 minutes of virtuosity and variations on the theme. Every track is fantastic and takes you far as you listen, you'll never know where you'll end up once you start.

I repeat myself, but the effect of this piano duet is shocking: more than two pianists, it feels like listening to one man with four hands due to the high level of synergy.

Ok, I'll leave it at that and go listen to it all over again. Who knows where it will take me this time?
