"Heike Has The Giggles" is a band (trio) of young people from Ravenna, specifically from Solarolo (which should also be the birthplace of Pausini). The name of the group means more or less Heike has the giggles, and a little over a year after the release of their first album "Sh!" (in the meantime, the second one "Crowd Surfing" has just been published), I thought of writing something about them. The choice of this indie rock band, little more than kids, is not accidental, as this is my first review. Indeed, I chose a more modest profile; I can't just start with Zappa or Joni Mitchell...
Returning to our young people, I must say the first time I heard them was at a contest for a chance to play at the Eineken jammin festival in Imola. I was immediately struck by the talent of the singer, guitarist, leader, songwriter... in short, the soul of the group, Emanuela Drei, joined by Matteo Gandi on bass, and Maurizio Casadio on drums, a classic rock formation that performs excellently even live.
From the album, I would highlight "Robot," a nice rock song for which there is also a somewhat raw and naive video. The stronger "Two Sister" and the funky "Commutatio Loci" are tracks I am fond of from these three young people I've come across and got to know personally. I think they stand out among billions of young bands, and they have the potential to grow well, let's hope...

Heike have truly committed to creating their characteristic sound and have produced a work that does not show even a hint of a filler.
Pieces like "June 16," the furious "Stop joking about Britney Spears" and especially the dance-inducing and evocative "Too Many DJs" represent a glimmer of light in the desolate Italian indie scene.
