HEIDI FOR PRESIDENT - Nostrils

(La Rivolta Records)

Heidi for President, a band from Taranto consisting of Sergio Leo, Annarita Flemma, and Danilo Vona, presents Nostrils, their debut album, although you wouldn't think so upon listening. In fact, the complexity of the lyrics, the messages conveyed, and the meticulously crafted sound suggest an experienced American indie rock band rather than a young Italian group on their first outing.

The album is deep and very pleasant to listen to, characterized by lyrics focused on the relationship between man and nature, on love, concerns, and all the feelings that derive from it.

The sound style is reminiscent of some American indie folk bands with the addition of a strong psychedelic influence and some Brit pop interludes.

The album consists of eight very enjoyable tracks that captivate the listener, immersing them in environments straddling reality and the dream world.

The album opens with the song "DREAMING STATE OF JACKSON," introspective and illusory, characterized by a very British sound, followed by the title track, which explains the meaning of the entire album, "NOSTRILS," namely the nostrils of the face of nature, where everything originates and where we can find protection ("Nostrils’ re protecting you").

"WHOM," instead (the first single released from the album) is centered on love: human love, which is also universal love, the love that moves everything and without which one cannot exist.

This is followed by "MR. HUBERT CUMBERDALE" and "GROWING GREEN TIME," the former extremely folk, while the latter more indie rock.

"NASTY TASTY BLOW" expresses the band's regret towards the choices made by a constantly growing society at the expense of nature, while "DAWN" is a true journey of sound impressions.

The album closes with "PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST AS A YOUNG DOG," which is an invitation to travel, to search for sensations that stray from everyday life, something every artist should do.
