A really cute and energetic album, this Decadence by Head Automatica. One of those CDs that saves your parties, one of those CDs to blast in the car when you take a girl out for the first time to show her how cool you are. The formula is simple: choruses and rhythms that stick in your head after one listen, electronics scattered everywhere but with discretion, and very rock'n'roll and direct guitars.
The first track "At The Speed Of A Yellow Bullet" immediately shows how things are: the Come On is always effective, and the riff is one that gets even the old ladies jumping. Track number 2 "Brooklyn Is Burning" aggressively envelops you while the snare drum becomes the master of our eardrums; and then talking about discos in tracks that might seemingly be close to rock philosophy is ever so cunning these days. "Beating Heart Baby" is the best track, the bass winks at the most brazen pop, and the pedalboard looms theatrically and almost eerily in the chorus. The chorus in a female-like voice is truly irresistible. "Please Please Please (Hollywood Young)" could be the main theme of any MTV show, the soft riff melts in the ears in the chorus. Really pleasant. Track 5 "King Ceasar" starts as if a band of 16-year-olds were making the instruments creak in the garage, "The Razor" is explosive and sexy, the chorus is light, it's physical pleasure. Of very high level too are "Dance Party Plus", "Disco Hades II", and "Solid Gold Telephone". The almost hip hop instrumental part of "Head Automatica Soundsystem" is striking.
A very enjoyable CD, perfect for "saturday night".
