THE REVIEW

New album for Hate Eternal, and a new lineup. In this 2008, joining the incredible Erik Rutan are the acrobatic bassist Alex Webster, Jade Simonetto on drums, and Shaune Kelley as the second guitarist. The former Morbid Angel member continues his climb toward the highest peaks of Death Metal, with each release the guitarist assembles a lineup that's nothing short of devastating, much like "Evil Chuck" did with his unparalleled Death, always aiming to put high-quality works on the market, and in this new album, good quality is abundant.

"Fury & Flames" is a record of impressive power and violence, each musician's technique is wholly dedicated to pure sonic devastation. Heavy, sharp, incredibly fast riffs hit the listener from the get-go, with Webster and Simonetto in the rhythmic section acting like steamrollers, setting truly killer tempos. Every solo is designed to be powerful, technical, but above all, to perfectly integrate into the riffing, each note follows the next with a harmony that is quite rare to find in a genre like Brutal Death Metal. Rutan, besides showcasing his great technical-compositional skills, also proves to be an excellent vocalist in the Death realm, with a powerful and decisive growl, every single word transmits rage and adrenaline, each track provides an infinite charge of brutality that one cannot escape from.

All the songs are true pearls of violence, tracks like "Thus Salvation" and "Tombeau (Le Tombeau De La Fureur Et Des Flammes)" are a pure concentration of technique, rawness, and savagery. The album remains intense up until the final outro, where a female voice and a rhythm sustained by symbols alone take us into a world of mystery and anguish, transporting us with disarming calmness to the end of the CD, truly brilliant this contrast between the album's power and the lightness of the final track.

Hate Eternal with each album only produces excellent works, there aren't many words needed for this fantastic band, I can only highly recommend this album to lovers of extreme sounds.
