The Profile

Handsome was an American post-hardcore supergroup formed in 1995 by former Helmet guitarist Peter Mengede, with Tom Capone, Eddie Nappi, Pete Hines, and vocalist Jeremy Chatelain. They released a single self-titled album on Epic Records in 1997 and disbanded soon after.

Line-up included Peter Mengede (Helmet), Tom Capone (Quicksand), Eddie Nappi, Pete Hines (Cro-Mags), and Jeremy Chatelain (later of Jets to Brazil). One studio album: Handsome (1997, Epic Records).

A fervent defense of Handsome’s self-titled album, spotlighting the twin-guitar attack of Peter Mengede and Tom Capone, sturdy rhythm work by Eddie Nappi and Pete Hines, and Jeremy Chatelain’s unexpectedly effective vocals. Highlights include “Needles” and “Going to Panic.” The review urges listeners to ignore comparisons to Helmet and Quicksand and just enjoy the post-hardcore wall of sound.
