"My son, listen to what I say: Keep in mind what you have learned and wrap your sword around your fingers... autumn has brought us fear!"
This time, it is not the illustrious figures of history like the enigmatic Nostradamus or the famous Galileo Galilei who take center stage in a Haggard album. In this new adventure, Haggard and their leader Asis Nasseri take us to the magical land of Ithiria, where the bloody battle between good and evil takes place and where the tears of the innocent are shed for the loved ones who have fallen like autumn leaves on the endless fields, of those who lost their lives fighting for the people's freedom.
Haggard have plunged their spear into the Holy Land, leaving their mark.
This new concept album represents a new horizon for the band but also the beginning of a new era, where Asis Nasseri and company plot new coordinates for their future.
The sound is noticeably different from the previous album "Eppur si muove", and the most die-hard fans of the German symphonic band have had the chance to notice it.
"Tales of Ithiria" is a predominantly fantasy album, divided between narrated parts and well-orchestrated long tracks. In this new album, Asis Nasseri offers us a much more incisive growl singing than in previous albums where it blends very well with the soprano voices.
The album begins with the first narrated track "The Origin" which seems to resemble a movie soundtrack. This track tells us the story of a world that lived in perfect harmony with nature and its people; but unfortunately, it was not always so. Many years ago, the enemy arrived on a cold autumn night, sowing terror, death, and destruction among the inhabitants. Women and children armed themselves with axes, torches, and pitchforks, in a state of panic.
The second track of this album and the first chapter of this album, "Tales of Ithiria", tells us that the fate of the people is in the hands of a young boy, the son of a dying father, who sacrificed himself for the freedom of the people.
The only outsider track on the album is "Hijo De La Luna". A track by the Spanish band Mecano that Haggard decided to cover.
All that's left for the listener is to listen to their entire album because they will be the one to give the final judgment in this story with a medieval flavor.
