Apology for Pathology

After blowing our eardrums in 2002 with that masterpiece called Morgue Sweet Home, in 2006 the Spaniards Haemorrhage bring to life another Mega-Masterpiece even sicker, perverse, and destructive: "Apology For Pathology".

The album, composed of 15 shards of devastating Death/Grind is a brutal onslaught of Exhumed school, and especially Carcass, as the guitars indeed remind me a lot of a certain "Symphonies Of Sickness", but they are not a mere imitation, rather an evolution. The gore/medico-pathological themes (as it should be in this genre) reign supreme, and so among graceless and effected growls, impetuous tempo changes, rapid but granitic guitars, and distorted basses the good Lugubrious and his companions (among which the delightful Ana stands out) tell us horrifying anecdotes of autopsies, murderous surgery, and B-list hospital medicine.

The album lasts a little over half an hour, and the technique, in the structure of each single track, is just enough to ensure that this record never gets tiring but urges continuous listening. How can one stay still to the violent mid-tempos of "Antemortem Thanatopraxis" or the inspired fury of "Disgorging Innards". Spine-chilling and mosh-pit-inspiring are then "Festerfeast", and the title track, the pinnacle of this wonderful album. There is even room for a Venom cover, "Satanachist", obviously performed in the Haemorrhage way.

These five Madrilenians, along with General Surgery and Regurgitate, are currently the kings of Goregrind and this album fully proves it, offering our poor eardrums a real bomb that will surely not disappoint but will fully satisfy those who are fans of Goregrind and its PATHOLOGICAL violence and will also appeal to those new to the genre.
