Free as we were yesterday, chapter one, Vivident Xylit White, for white teeth.
At the end of 1967 a book of immense proportions came out from the hand of the artist of detournament, a prophecy that will scandalize your condition and your superstructures.
Time passes inexorably in our superficially lived daily life, aliens going to work, aliens eating canned food substitutes, aliens dying in a plywood container.
Years ago, someone realized before me that something was wrong, they recommended this book, incredibly complex, of an intellectual depth that goes beyond good and evil, that surpasses our modern conceptions of thought.
Guy Debord was born in Paris and died in 1994 in Champot, Auvergne, with a gunshot to the face, the word unease tattooed on his face.
"And undoubtedly our time... prefers the image to the thing, the copy to the original, the representation to the reality, the appearance to the being", Feuerbach, preface to "The Essence of Christianity".
1. The entire life of societies, in which modern conditions of production prevail, presents itself as an immense accumulation of spectacles. Everything that was directly lived has receded into a representation.
Thus opens Debord in his most quoted and most misunderstood book, 221 maxims without which it is impossible to open one's eyes today, an Orwellian 1984 without utopias.
2. The images that have detached themselves from every aspect of life merge into a shared stream, where the unity of this life can no longer be restored. The reality considered partially unfolds in its general unity as a separate pseudo-world, subject to mere CONTEMPLATION. The specialization of the world's images is found, realized, in the world of the autonomous image, where the deceiver deceives himself. The spectacle in general, as a concrete inversion of life, is the autonomous movement of the non-living.

3. The spectacle presents itself simultaneously as society itself, as a part of society, as a unifying instrument... it is the place of visual deception and false consciousness...

4. The spectacle is not a collection of images, but a social relationship between people, mediated by images.

6. The spectacle, understood in its totality, is both the result and the project of the EXISTING MODE OF PRODUCTION. It is not an additional element of the real world, its overlay. It is the heart of the unreality of the real society. In all its specific forms, information or propaganda, advertising or direct consumption of entertainment, the spectacle constitutes the present MODEL of socially dominant life. It is the pervasive affirmation of the choice already made in production, and its consumption is the corollary.

9. In the truly inverted world the TRUE is a moment of the FALSE.
19. The spectacle is the heir of all the weakness of the Western philosophical project, which also attempted an understanding of human activity, dominated by the categories of seeing; as it is based on the unending unfolding of precise technical rationality derived from this thought. It does not realize philosophy, it philosophizes reality. It is the concrete life of all that has degraded into a speculative universe.
This book changes the view from which we watch existence flow like a rushing river, it changes life, I do not recommend it if you are restless types, because like the salmon you will start to swim upstream in both the right and wrong part, because life is an illusion, is it worth knowing you are dead?
Take on this great book...
