In today's musical world, styles, genres, and aesthetics blend together, resulting in some "unenviable" blunders; but it's also possible to create noteworthy things.
August 2011 - "Teen Jamz", debut EP of this American band (Terrible, unwatchable album cover that probably drives away the buyer). The record consists of 5 songs, the first 2 songs are the most distant, the first "We're Awake Tonight" revolves around a riff from "ELO" (Electric Light Orchestra) Mr. Blue Sky (Read in some review) you immediately notice the effeminate voice (yes, it is a male) of the singer, the second self-titled track "Teen Jamz" is even more distant and has more of a rock 'n roll rhythm; from here you can already understand that everything will revolve around low fidelity and the reigning bass. The third song is definitely the best of the lot, "Sweetest Touch", with dominant bass, explosive guitars, a persistent but not annoying buzz, and a hypnotic voice. With each explosion after the verse, there's a constant urge to jump. You turn the vinyl and you're immediately surprised by the "New Wave" change of direction with "Can't Ignore For My Heart", a synthesizer that dominates the entire song, with a lively guitar as in the previous piece; from here you can see the band's dual nature, initially Classic Rock, then Raw and Buzzing Rock, and finally here with the use of the synth, its more "pop" and dreamy soul. The last piece, "Dream Gurl", is a seventies-style dreamy ballad, with a burst of guitars at the climax of the singing. The EP concludes with a piano note and a white noise for 10 seconds, further emphasizing the low fidelity of the work.
From a single EP, one cannot judge a group the premises are very good. I also recommend listening to a track released in an EP ("Split EP") containing 4 songs, one for each band present (Gross Magic/History Of Apple Pie/Echo Lake/Novella); the track in question is "Yesterdays", twin of "Sweetest Touch", even more powerful and at times even more buzzing, with a hypnotic bass and a riff that sticks in your head for days and days.
