This is my first review, so forgive me if I make any mistakes.

As you can gather from the title of the review, the album I will talk about is Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear. Months have passed since its release, and no one has reviewed it yet, so I said to myself: since the average Debaserian hates duplicates, carpe diem, I have an opportunity to start well. But enough with the chit-chat. The album was released on May 25th.

"Veckatimest" opens with what is perhaps the best song on it, namely "Southern Point": a calm folk beginning that explodes into the chorus, a sort of psychedelic wave.

"Southern Point" is followed by "Two Weeks", a song (Beatles-like, but not too much) that starts with a bright and fast piano intro, ending in a Beach Boys-style harmonization. Besides being very beautiful, this song has this strange effect, like dragging, given by the speed of the piano part combined with a slow rhythmic base. An effect that is repeated here and there in the album.

At this point, during my first listen, the intrinsic enemy of certain music begins: boredom. Because after my first listen from "Two Weeks" to the last three songs of the album, I wanted nothing more than that damn album to end. I was disappointed "what a crappy album is this?" I wondered.

But the next day I listened to it again because I had the feeling I had missed something, and the day after again, until I couldn't stop humming the album, adoring it. This is one of those albums that I have heard are called ‘'Growers'': they grow with listening, over time you learn to appreciate them. If before you found it super boring, enough to crush your gadgets, you start to appreciate the magnificent melodies that this album contains.

Worth mentioning are "About Face", "While You Wait For The Others", "I Live With You" and the epic final "Foreground" (which recalls Radiohead's "Videotape" in "In Rainbows"). But every song on this album is a little gem.

This album is so beautiful (exaggerated.. -.-) that personally, I can't describe it in words as I would like (but maybe I'm a limited person -here come the insults-). Finally, I highly recommend listening to it, calmly, without the rush to understand its beauty.

Ps: I hope this debut on DeBaser goes well.
