Honestly, I must say that so far I hadn't paid much attention to these guys from Michigan. Too Zeppelin-like (in the sense of "if I have to listen to a copy of Led Zeppelin, I'd rather listen to the original").
After listening to the new "The Battle at Garden's Gate," I changed my mind.
The guys play incredibly well, and the album is a pleasure to listen to.
It doesn't matter much that, at times, the falsetto of singer Josh Kiszka becomes a bit shrill; it's a flaw that can be tolerated in an album that exudes rock from every groove.
My favorite tracks, for now, are:
the opening "Heat Above," with a majestic intro and Jake Kiszka's acoustic guitar prominently shining alongside Samuel Kiszka's keyboard;
the rock 'n' roll track "My Way, Soon";
"Stardust Chords," which, after starting with just guitars, resolves into a great rock ballad;
"The Weight Of Dreams," a classically tinged conclusion to an album that may not be a masterpiece, but nonetheless leaves a mark and is further proof that rock is far from dead.
P.S.: Do they resemble Led Zeppelin? Who cares!
