...wandering on the web I stumbled upon a review of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that shifted my attention to this site where you can review anything, so I decided it was right to talk about a somewhat underrated TV series full of "Hopeful significant", My Name is Earl. Yes, it apparently tells the adventures of a hapless petty criminal, but behind this character lies a message that can help all of us live better.

"You know that kind of guy who keeps doing one bad thing after another and at some point wonders why his life stinks? Well, that was me. Every time something good happened to me, something bad was lurking right around the corner. It's Karma: that's why I decided to change. I made a list of all my bad deeds and since then, I try to make amends for the mistakes I've made; I'm just trying to be a better person. My name? Earl!"

(Earl's self-introduction in the opening theme, copied from Wikipedia)

Behind the karma (which is just a simple pseudonym for the masses), there is not something mystical and transcendental but a very simple way of behaving. Earl's reference to his good deeds suggests a transition from competitive and violent behavior just to achieve something which is really just a distraction and destruction, to collaborative behavior that involves non-physical, verbal, and psychological violence, and knowing how to listen and understand each person, giving them a helping hand as far as possible, which certainly does not lead to any truth but at least leads to a not-so-utopian state of well-being, like social service for the conscience. Eliminate the current mess caused by your past!! Let's try to live a little better, we are all just passing through here so let's try to live well this collective experience called life on Earth!

The view is smooth and well accompanied by pseudo-silly humorous cues and they too actually hide meanings, but less important, and by excellent rock, hard rock, and heavy metal music, as these three genres represent a fixation for the protagonist (an interesting although easy role for Jason Lee, a former professional Sk8er).

Watch it if you want to feel better ;) if you want to cleanse your conscience ;) and if you're afraid of confessions to priests XD
