THE REVIEW

The Green Day members are:
Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals and guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass and vocals), and Tré Cool (drums).

The term Green Day refers to a day dedicated to the use and abuse of marijuana and was chosen in the early '90s by a group of punk rockers as the name for their band, which soon became famous worldwide, disrupting the sales charts of the '90s.

The story of Green Day begins in the second half of the '80s, particularly in San Francisco, where a distinctive music scene had developed which I won't explain now, but it emphasized melody, choruses, and songs in general. Initially, Billie Joe and Mike were part of groups like Pinhead Gunpowder, Goodbye Harry, Blatz, Corrupted Morals, and Screeching Weasel, before joining Sweet Children, where Al Sobrante was on drums, later replaced by Tre when the band's name was changed to Green Day.

In 1990, after releasing the album 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours with Lookout and in 1991 the album Kerplunk! with the same label, they signed with a major label, Reprise, and released Dookie in 1994. Dookie's impact on the audience was enormous, bolstered by frequent media video plays, particularly on MTV. The success was also driven by the mud battle between the band and the audience at the Woodstock festival reissue, resulting in the album selling 14 million copies. The following year, in 1995, they released Insomniac.
The approach is harder than the previous one, the lyrics are more disenchanted and anguished, and the sound is rougher. Although it didn't repeat the success of the previous album, this album brought the band back to media attention and initiated a series of tours. But to avoid confusing you, let's hear what Mike thought at the time:

"To be honest, I enjoyed it more a couple of years ago...... When we're on tour, we spend an amazing hour on stage every day: for the rest, it's the most boring job in the world. There's nothing punk rock about playing in hockey arenas, stadiums, and all that stuff."

Two years later, Nimrod was released, but in the meantime, the three had become parents, with the birth of Joey, Billie Joe's son, and Estrelle Desiree and Ramona, Mike and Tre's daughters. Despite everything, Green Day did not falter or get demoralized by Insomniac's "flop," and thus they continued their project. The title of their fifth album, Nimrod, means fool or idiot, and it contains 18 tracks, including the beautiful "Time of Your Life" and "Nice Guys Finish Last". Moving to 2000, Warning was released, driven by the catchy single "Minority". The new album contains 12 tracks for a total of 41 minutes of listening time, with "Warning", the first track of the album, as the second single. The third single, as well as the video, is "Waiting", which in Italy did not appear at all, except after the release of "International Superhits!".

In November 2001, they decided to release a greatest hits album titled "International Superhits!". The album contains 21 tracks, including the new "Maria" and "Poprocks & Coke". Simultaneously, "International Supervideos!", a VHS and DVD containing all Green Day videos, was also released. In the summer of 2002, "Shenanigans", a collection of b-sides, was released. The album shows its energy in a few tracks like "Desentized", "Outsider" and "Ha Ha You're Dead", then moves to melancholic nuances like "Tired Of Waiting For You" and "On The Wagon" and instrumental performances alone like "Espionage" (Rating 3).
In the same summer, Green Day toured Europe but did not reach Italy. After some silence and rest, they returned to the studio and recorded "American Idiot", the "political" (!!?!?!??) album by Green Day. I spent a day making it, I hope someone likes it!?

"Shenanigans" lasts about 34 minutes with 14 tracks.

Here are all the track names:

1-Suffocate 2-Desentized 3-You Lied 4-Outsider 5-Don't Wanna Fall In Love 6-Espionage 7-Want Be On T. V 8-Scumbag 9-Tired Of Waiting For You 10-Sick of Me 11-Rotting 12-Do Da Da 13-On The Wagon 14-Ha Ha You're Dead

"There are no unforgettable tracks; in fact, forgettable tracks abound, but a few small gems are gifted to us."

"Espionage, a pleasant instrumental that gives an idea of what the soundtracks of James Bond should have been according to Green Day."
