I took a few months to reflect before reviewing the latest Green Day live album, «Awesome As Fuck».
This time was absolutely necessary to reach a conclusion, which is not actually my own but rather that of the good Ferretti from the days of CCCP... and the conclusion is that «Neon signs attract fools».
Then, I said to myself, since a Green Day review gets no less than 2,000 visits and dozens and dozens of comments, why not take advantage and secretly point out the band they owe practically everything to, maybe introducing it to those who have no idea of its existence?
And so, I will limit myself to two considerations.
The first is an invitation to those who stumbled upon this page because they were drawn by Green Day: if you haven't already, humble yourself and go buy «Singles Going Steady» by the Buzzcocks, the Bible (or Quran or Tanakh or whatever you prefer, according to your faith) of pop punk, even more than the first three Ramones albums (and you have no idea how much it pains me to admit that).
The second is a doubt, whether Billie Joe Armstrong, once he became a billionaire, at least lit a candle as a token of eternal devotion to Steve Diggle, Howard Devoto, and Pete Shelley.
Finish.
