The Profile

Grave is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1986 (initially as Corpse) and later based in Visby, Gotland. They adopted the name Grave by 1988 and became key figures of the Swedish death metal movement. Their debut album, Into the Grave (1991), was released on Century Media and is regarded as a classic. Vocalist/guitarist Ola Lindgren has long served as the band’s leader; early member Jörgen Sandström later joined Entombed and Krux.

Formed in Sweden in 1986 as Corpse; renamed Grave by 1988. Signed to Century Media and released the debut album Into the Grave in 1991, followed by You'll Never See... (1992). Known for heavy, downtuned guitars, mid-tempo bulldozer riffs, and steadfast old-school death metal. Ola Lindgren is the longstanding vocalist/guitarist and bandleader; early member Jörgen Sandström later played in Entombed.

The reviews portray Grave as a cornerstone of Swedish death metal: raw, heavy, and steadfastly old-school. Into the Grave (1991) and You'll Never See... (1992) are hailed as genre milestones, while As Rapture Comes (2006) is praised as a crushing return. Expect massive riffs, mid-tempo bulldozers, and uncompromising intensity—innovation takes a back seat to pure heaviness.
