GRANDI INSEGNE IL GRANDE ALLIBRATORE - As of today, missing
(Self-production)
This is an emotional record, this stunning debut album by Grandi insegne il grande allibratore. It moves you in a historical moment where the basics of feelings and emotions seem to be removed from the new generations, and not only. Here, instead, Nicola Cancellieri, a songwriter who, together with a handful of versatile musicians and "lone wolves" free from any stylistic barriers, is not afraid to delve inside himself and discover, indeed, that we are made of the same stuff dreams, emotions, and feelings are made of. Feelings, those of Grandi insegne il grande allibratore, that express the need to "find a place to plant deep roots" (in "Albero"), to drive away that latent insecurity that today runs under the skin of many. Searching for a place that feels like home (in "Una casa tutta epr noi"). Because everyone has the right to it. Despite doubts about oneself ("a deep pit like an abyss where to hide the little good there is inside me," he sings in the beautiful "Il re dei topi," where there's an awareness of also being imperfect, not "performing" at 100% as modern society would like), or perhaps precisely due to this desire and ability to look inside oneself, one discovers oneself as "good." And then you manage to sing at the top of your lungs "I am a beautiful tree" (from "Albero"), almost to discover a high self-esteem. After listening to this record, perhaps we can all think and say as well; I am a beautiful tree. The music, pop, folk, jazz, indie, and everything else, with a strong anarchic attitude, organized chaos, certainly helps.
