We are talking about another band from the notorious Hardcore Punk scene of the eighties.
"Crash" is their seventh album released in 1988, six years after their appearance in the record trade. Somewhat similar to some works by Circle Jerks, this album doesn't have particular charisma, it is characterized by slightly slow punk rock rhythms that lack distinctiveness. You can talk about good music and excellent musicians, but there's no excessive need to listen to the record continuously, perhaps too monotonous.
Government Issue is part of the straight-edge movement, (for those who don't know, the "positive" side of Hardcore), so the themes they touch on are imaginable. The singer John Stabb has a clean and moderate voice, stylistically very close to Bob Mould (Husker Du), while Tom Lyde's guitars are particularly rocking, showing a good technical level with his warm touches on songs mostly structured on pentatonic scales.
The record in question is not to be considered a masterpiece, even Government Issue themselves have always been rather overlooked (in my opinion not entirely unjustifiably) this "Crash" can be a pleasant listen for those who want to relax while still listening to good Punk.
