Before starting my review on a band that I have always liked, I would like to make a premise, which is: SINCE I AM AN EMO, I REVIEW SONGS THAT STRIKE ME (AND THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE FROM 36 CRAZYFIST, OR OTHER EMOCORE).
THE SONG :
The song starts with a big laugh, almost hysterical, but that I personally define as "creepy," simply because the song in question is characterized by a very dark bass line (and now don't come bothering me, telling me, dark is something else... because otherwise I'll get pissed off), obsessive and repetitive, but also dark and somewhat melancholic. It flows into a sweet classical guitar arpeggio, which keeps you calm only for a short time because the happiness of that windmill is far away from the place where you find yourself, where clouds, a red sky with black helicopters on the horizon take place. And you suffer because that windmill, a bearer of peace, is very close to you, but it's unreachable, and you just can't fall asleep. You feel this emotional distance. As for the song, it is one of the most melancholic that I have ever heard.
THE VIDEOCLIP :
Also noteworthy is the video, which in my humble opinion, I would define as stunning and very suitable for the song, because when an imagery of this kind is presented in front of your eyes, you are almost shocked, but at the same time, you become fascinated by it. The scenario we face is an industry, with unhappy and sad people inside, who, to escape this unhappiness, take refuge in a gaze fixed on a windmill in front of you. We are in a world where the last living souls must clash with an alienating society and environment, where the artificial peace of a windmill is disturbed by black helicopters on the horizon. I judge the video as disgustingly beautiful.
