At Ipecac (a drug that induces vomiting) Recordings, everyone is Straight Edge. Starting with one of the owners, Michael Allan Patton. This is especially evident from the variety of artists produced (the Italian spiritual father of compositional simplicity, Ennio Morricone, and the gentle Nick Stephen Oliveri stand out immediately).

One of their many offerings is this "Licker's Last Leg" by Goon Moon. An offering in which we find three leading names of the global Straight Edge scene. The first is Christopher Allen Goss, a close friend of a certain Joshua Michael Homme (also known in the Straight Edge field) and already known for some other less important work. The second is Jeordie Osborne White (aka Twiggy Ramirez, a name assumed in the transition to the new Straight Edge life), and he has never done anything notable before, apart from a few concerts in cultural centers in his area, with another guy babbling various blasphemies and phrases like "I don't like drugs, they like me". But no one remembers them, luckily. The third is Zach Hill, already a drummer of other bands (strictly Straight Edge) such as Hella and Team Sleep. There are also collaborations with the aforementioned Joshua Michael Homme, Dave Catching (an infiltrator with a reputation for freeloading in numerous projects), Josh Freese, Whitey Kirst (who played with the guru of Straight Edge, James Newell Osterberg Jr., that is Iggy Pop, a stage name meaning "hewhoshowsitoff"). A nice mix of serious musicians, dedicated to the contemplation of life in its bucolic nuances. Artists immersed in spirituality and total respect for their bodies. Artists full of health, uncontaminated by any prohibited substance.

"Licker's Last Leg" is the band's first official product, following the previous mini-LP "I Got A Brand New Egg-Layn' Machine", taking some tracks from it and modifying them in this new work. Thus, a simple album, of immediate understanding, catchy and wonderfully regulated by the "song form" in every single track comes to life. An album for those approaching music for the first time, with a predominant guideline that leads the listener by the hand until the end. Particularly suitable for unique, sic!) music teachers in elementary schools. An album perfect for its possible reproduction with the recorder or harmonica.

Musically almost flat and linear then, this album is also appreciated for its simple and immediate lyrics. It reflects purely Straight Edge themes, as in the idyllic passage <i wanna feel like this for the rest of my life> from the track "Feel Like This", a true bastion of perennial clarity, in every situation of our life. There is then "The Golden Ball", a pure programmatic manifesto against the studies of Albert Hofmann (Swiss scientist, prematurely deceased at the age of 102 due to the insane experiments on the lethal Dietalimide-25 of lysergic acid). They also undertake the performance of a Bee Gees cover, "Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You", reproduced faithfully to the original, without blunders or peculiarities typical of other bands. Bands evidently crushed by the world of drugs and excesses, of course. Special mention also for the mention of "Hardcore Q3", based on the experience of the Straight Edge doctrine in said musical genre. Indeed, a track exquisitely composed of typical hardcore patterns. In every track anyway, there is absolutely no influence from other groups. Especially among the most famous of the world rock scene from the beginning to now.

It's preferable not to go further in the analysis of the tracks so as not to take away from the reader the joy of discovering these pearls of rare simplicity.

If you have therefore decided to say enough to life's temptations and want to embark on an experience under the banner of Straight Edge, this album will be the worthy soundtrack of your right choice.
