Much anticipation for the new studio work from Gogol Bordello, after Pura Vida Consipracy from 4 years ago, an album that left a bit of a bitter taste due to certain overly commercial and poppy turns (see Gipsy Autopilot).

Unfortunately, the drift is confirmed even more, I tried to listen to the album three times all the way through, but I was never able to finish it even though the eleven tracks last only 37 minutes and a bit more.

I will forgo a track-by-track review, the album is drowning in an overly clean and polished overproduction. I would only save the first track Did it all, which stylistically stands somewhat apart from the rest of the album, and Saboteur blues, even though it has a déjà-vu feel from previous albums. Otherwise, it's an album that is too commercial, more so than the already mentioned Pura Vida Consipracy, where there's very little punk and gipsy (at this point to listen to gipsy music, I turn to Fanfare Ciocarlia who truly play it).

The golden days of Underdog World Strike are long gone, in four years, despite an intense live activity, a lot more could have been done.
