I immediately inform readers that this will not be a simple review. It will be more of an informative text.
I would like to specifically address lovers of experimental music, Post-Rock, and naturally the great fans of Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
The group was formed in 1994 thanks to Efrim Menuck, Mauro Pezzente, and Mike Moya.
In December 1994, this trio gave birth to a cassette, recorded in multitrack, limited to only 33 copies and containing the staggering number of 40 tracks.
Over the years, through interviews with the original members, more and more information began to be gathered about this cassette: Menuck, in 2010, stated that the content could be attributed to GY!BE only by name; after all, it was recorded when they were just 3 and not 9. Menuck labeled their final product as interesting but not as excellent as one might think.
I'll leave you the link to the interview (transcribed rather poorly), obviously in English, where more is written than I have already mentioned: http://www.thefourohfive.com/music/news/article/interview-efrim-menuck-of-a-silver-mt-zion
Furthermore, it was said that no one owned a copy, not even Menuck (who, however, owns the master copy, not reproducible), until 2013 when a Reddit user, nickname "casketjack," claimed to have purchased a copy in New Brunswick, Canada. This user then uploaded online audio files of some final tracks from side A of the cassette; his account was deleted shortly after, leading people to think it was all a hoax.
In case of doubt, I'll leave you the link of what "casketjack" left: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRIHNgwH0PE
There are other tracks attributed to "All Lights Fucked On The Hairy Amp Drooling," but most can be safely categorized as fake.
This cassette deserves the status of a legendary creature.
