In perceiving images, the eye sees forms inverted compared to our sensation, the brain takes care of processing and straightening them, probably just out of habit; it wouldn't be easy to move in a mirrored reality, but here the problem doesn't arise and the music reflects in the black; furthermore, each person's field of vision has a gap for each eye, but this gap is then reconstructed by deduction from the surrounding images, as if to interpolate reality; in other words, there will always be something that we see differently from what it is, so perhaps also something that we hear.
And for this rorrim I could well imagine a game of perceptions, certainly not a listening just for the sake of it; it lives on dissonances and depicts tangible situations perhaps only in the first few minutes, in a short time theatricality takes over, as if to give sound to disturbing and unusual images, between vocal recitations and motorik from a bad trip; a record in three tracks with intricate and disconnected musical syntax, like reading texts of only consonants for half an hour.
Mirror is perhaps the leading piece or an Acheron river, not the most significant among the others but the only one to be remixed; Learn to Forgive makes me imagine certain Unsane in chains, even slower, noisier, and more angular, hiding somewhere the imaginary center of symmetry and preparing for the unkind Sodom & Gomorrah, the disturbing listen that's expected from the beginning, it is not clear if it describes the fear of pain or dying; if that wasn’t clear, to potentially listen to before some daisies pop up out there.
Thinking also of the last red - justsaynotothepsychorightwingcapitalistfascistindustrialdeathmachine, I find it interesting how these cacophonic Gnod are the same ones who years ago launched against gravity in exhausting cosmic tracks, here we are in twenty-sixteen and it seems quite connected to the cerebral cables of Infinity Machines, but it feels like a simple corollary on what they theorized in the previous album; insistent, but continually changing, rumpled noise, disturbing background electronics, continuous vocal laments, and so much noise, in the moments of respite, remnants of sounds remain in the dark like flames; great for those who follow them, it could leave others feeling disoriented, ssalut.
