After three years since her last album of completely new songs, ALMA CARIBEñA, the queen of Latin music returns with a fantastic album rich in various musical genres. Gloria Estefan, with over 70,000,000 records sold, is the best-selling Latin artist in the entire history of music.
For this comeback, she recorded a beautiful album, with four songs in Spanish and 14 in English, her second language.
The lead single is "Hoy," a song with Andean rhythms (so much so that the video was filmed at none other than Machu Picchu), and makes extensive use of the charango, a typical Andean instrument made from the shell of an armadillo, with a sound very similar to our mandolin.
In the album, in addition to more rhythmic songs in the classic Latin style like "Te amaré," "You," and "Wrapped," there are also beautiful ballads, including "Tu fotografia," "Mientras tanto," "Dangerous game," "Famous," and "I wish you."
The magic of this album lies in the great skill of Gloria and her husband Emilio to skillfully merge and perfectly blend different rhythms and traditions, from Cuban, to American traditions (the wonderful track "Into you" featuring Stevie Wonder playing the harmonica, evoking beautiful blues tones), to the indigenous traditions of South America.
A wonderful work, worthy of Gloria's other works, like "Gloria!" (1998), "Destiny" (1996), "Alma caribeña" (2000), "Abriendo puertas" (1995), and "Mi tierra" (1993).
