Well, here we are reviewing these Gliss, who came to our ears by chance, directly from their live act as a supporting group for the Editors. Half an hour or slightly more of an opening concert, they are three (two men and one woman) who take turns with the classic rock combo of guitar-bass-drums with decent mastery and with sounds that by the end of the evening stick to you and make you want to know more.
So you discover that the members of the group come from various parts of the world, but start operating in the States, mainly on the West Coast, in the LA area. They have yet to release a full-length album, and the closest thing to it is this "Kick In Your Heart" with its seven tracks balanced between My Bloody Valentine, Jesus & Mary Chain, and definitely more current, syncopated rhythms. It doesn’t often happen, among the sea of bands, small bands, and even smaller bands that continuously inundate our ear chambers from everywhere, to linger for more than one or two listens (and not consecutively) on so many of the albums available on the market today, but for "Kick In Your Heart" you can confidently leave the Repeat button on for all tracks for at least three consecutive listens (also considering that the entire album doesn’t reach half an hour in length), its songs have the power to project you into a space where you can let yourself be cradled by the sensual echoes of Martin Klingman's voice and the sonic wall of the distorted guitar.
So there's no time to lose, put on your headphones and start with "Velvet Stone", "Halfway Gone", or the overwhelming opening of "Peeping Tom", you won’t regret having done so...
