WARNING!!! PLAGIARISM ALERT!!!
This piece might be outright plagiarism. There were comments floating around on the web that many people said the song "Piccoli dettagli" by the former Esselunga cashier, resembled quite a lot "La musica che gira intorno" by the great Ivano Fossati, the famous leading track of the 1983 album "Le città di frontiera".
I noticed that the crafty Palermo artist might have quickly grabbed another piece by Fossati from the same album, titled "Milano" (track 2 of the record). I have always consumed bread and singer-songwriters and this stuff couldn’t escape me—Devil of a dog! "Milano" somewhat follows the rhythm of "La musica che gira intorno" but is decidedly slower and less smooth, and the chords vary in many instances. But the similarity of "Piccoli dettagli" to "Milano" is striking! When I heard it on the radio these days, I was stunned.
The chord progression is identical. For those who understand a bit of music, Ferreri's piece starts in D Major and Fossati's in G Major, so there are 7 tonal differences between the two songs. The fact is, despite the difference in the two keys, the subsequent chord sequences are, to the ear, practically identical. Moreover, even the metric and cadence in the singing do not differ much. Go listen to them on YouTube.
It's safe to say that these are not "small details" but yet another expertly done copy! Judge for yourselves.
