Eli (bass+key) is absent, stuck in the USA due to his wife's health issues (source: www.gvsb.com). He is replaced by Sohrab Habibion from the old DC band Edsel.
The GVSB claim to be sexy. I understand it in the sense of violence. The impact of the two bass guitars played throughout the concert (no keyboards and samplers this time) is monstrous, one gets overwhelmed.
It opens with "Cruise Yourself," followed by "Basstation," and "BFF" from the new album. The only effect is the second distorted microphone into which Scott alternates singing with the "clean" one, several times in the same song. And the bass lines dig and turn, and Scott's voice begins to resemble a forgotten hero, Richard Butler of the Psychedelic Furs, the same hoarse voice.
Live, they are incredible. In the interview given to DE-Baser, Scott said the new CD was more similar to their live performances: all true. No more little noises. Rock and violence. Brilliant. They close with "Let it Breath," preceded by "Kill the Sexplayer" which turns into "kill the bass player."
