There are Math Rock albums that require patient attention to be appreciated, given the inherently hostile nature of this musical style, making it unlikely for "love at first listen", but this is absolutely not the case with "More Skin With Milk-Mouth".
It is certainly a complexly structured work yet endowed with immediate appeal, as it takes only a minute and three-quarters from the start of the first track to be completely stunned, knocked out by a phenomenal blow, upon awakening of which we are already "hooked" on this crazy and brilliant duo.
The two Giraffes make their way through daring passages that lead to the peaks of math-rock, passing through narrow crevices, where only by delivering dirty and gritty blows can one make headway, channeling into fissures where only ultra-precise lines can pass.
On this journey, the Giraffes also find the time to indulge in sweet pauses, marked by a soft and welcoming sound.
Just enough time to close one's eyes and the pause to the rhythm of post-rock lullabies is already concluded.
The descent begins again, down ever more jagged paths, in an endless chase.
We return to chase devastating rhythms, routes that would exhaust anyone but not our Giraffes.
Giraffes? What kind of question is that, Giraffes! Of course...
Under this laughable moniker, behind unfeasible title-tracks, beyond an embarrassing cover, lies great music.
We will often return to visit the Giraffes, very often...
