Completely new, Giovanni A. Sechi returns after almost two years since Posizione Fetale - a demo for acoustic guitars and voice, nothing special except for two or three tracks. The transition from guitar to piano makes "Un Fascio di Nervi" a ballad full of tension - replacing the previous version dated 2003 - while the other unreleased tracks range between the pianistic style of Tori Amos and the undeniable influence of Marco Parente (with whom Sechi has already played several times).
Sechi possesses a decent mimetic ability that, through unstable vocal lines, fully enhances his songs. The presence of Mr. Sapio - an impromptu drummer and co-producer of this work - helps Mare, a turbulent hysterical dream over a poem by Sandro Penna, perhaps the most fitting example.
Construction or Destruction then? The 5 tracks that compose this Canzoni in Distruzione (subtitled "improvisations") could be summed up, as the author wants, as "completely built out of thin air": The execution, in fact, is quite disordered overall ("Milano," the best track, is "wobbly" in the strictest sense of the word), even though - in the end - it's not that difficult to lose oneself in the notes of Pierpaolo; and where echoes of an acoustic guitar blend perfectly with those of the piano, we listen: "Parting from the light/ Becoming adults/Losing/ Gaining/ Recollecting. We are slaves of the past and you know it"
