Essential DVD for deepening the knowledge of Giorgio Gaber, captured from the theatrical performance broadcast by RAI in 1991. But what can the video format add to the Gaber phenomenon?
In my opinion, it's fundamental; the THEATER/SONG is based on Gaber's mimicry, his flamboyance, his funny faces.
Every song, every monologue gains new strength thanks to Giorgio's stage presence, sometimes only with a guitar slung over his shoulder, sometimes accompanied by his band.
GABER and his faithful LUPORINI have revolutionized and marked 40 years of Italian provincialism, their shows always packed and sold out, their records bought like contraband (Do you listen to Gaber? aah! surprised), their absence on the radio, their always and anyway being against.

"LUPORINI AND I WRITE EVERY WORK WITH THE SINCERE CONVICTION THAT IT'S THE LAST: THE LAST OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE VENT TO OUR BELIEFS, THE LAST OPPORTUNITY TO OPEN THE CLOSET OF SKELETONS."

The show, once again focused on the man with his paranoias, his vices, his damn tics; alternates prose and songs, some memorable, others chilling in their fake naivety.
Encores are then dedicated to entertainment, listen carefully to Giorgio's commentary at the end of BARBERA and CHAMPAGNE.
The DVD is accompanied by the booklet of texts, the price, given that it is 2 DVDs, is really low, so I warmly recommend the purchase to everyone, fans and not, regardless of their political beliefs.
