In 1994, I listened to a cassette tape recorded by a friend. It was Gigi Masin's vinyl album titled "Les Nouvelles Musiques Du Chambre vol.2".
It's needless to say that I searched for that album for a long time: there's no CD and the label (Sub Rosa) doesn't print it anymore either. The genre is a minimal sound, it makes you think of an Eric Satie playing the piano and using electronic artifices. A masterpiece. Undisputed.

In 2001, I listened to the album by To Rococo Rot and noticed that in the track "Die Dinge des Lebens” there was a loop identical to "Clouds" by Gigi Masin. Obviously, it's in the album credits, but it's really hidden.
I wrote an email to the Venetian artist to get confirmation: he noticed it too, but thanks to Björk, who in "It's In Our Hands" uses a sample attributed to To Rococo Rot. Björk, at least, after being informed that the sample belongs to GM, is gracious enough to cite the true author in the credits.

The new work by Gigi Masin, realized together with the experimental poet Giuseppe Caprioli, is called "Moltitudine in labirinto". It is an extremely minimal work that finds its roots in the infinite and impalpable repetition of rarefied sounds.
At first listen, the association of ideas recalls the classic sounds (Eno) as well as the ambient wave very popular in the '90s. The tracks written by Caprioli are more conceptual.
My favorite tracks are Aften, Coral, and Vertical, where Masin's touch is recognizable.

I don't know the other works of the Venetian artist, but in my opinion, with my small experience as an attentive listener, Gigi Masin by daring a bit more could reinvent ambient, like what the Boards of Canada did at the end of the '90s.
