The Sutton brothers have been around for a while. Natives of Detroit, settled at Small Stone (also in Detroit), they spend their days between production & session work for various and sundry stoners, many of whom, indeed, are residing at Small Stone.
Two Americans in one of the most American cities in America, people that if they tell you "ahbbello, i fratelli sutton hanno fatt'un disco", you imagine yet another stoner album to put in the Mustang.
And it's here that the mule falls down.
Water.
Detroit, beyond Small Stone, has one of the most important electronic scenes on the planet. And electronic music, as a child, spoke German.
Warmer.
To make it brief: the revival has done it all by now. But think about it: a kraut revival band?
Bingo.
Mainly Neu!, strongly "Faust cheerful version", melodic splashes CAN style. Rhythmic rides, as punchy as the genre allows, filled with those cheeky sounds that bring good cheer. For now, no sign of brain-smashing Kosmische Musik bricks, but let's not limit providence. Hope is the last to die, especially in this half-season that, according to many, wasn't supposed to be here anymore.
Entering a McDonald's and finding on the menu Pork Shank, Lamb Sausages & Kraut Cream. Unusual, disconcerting, almost surprising. Detroit-Berlin Axis: Musik Macht Frei; it doesn't matter if the artwork smells of exhaust fumes.
