GIANNI PESSINO - Chasing

(Smiling Face Records)

Chasing is the title of Gianni Pessino's first album, making a grand debut with a profound and meticulously crafted work.

The album consists of nine intense and captivating songs:

"Butterflies" opens the album with a light and floating atmosphere, reminiscent of jazz, aimed at representing a youthful love, equally light and carefree.

The atmosphere changes as soon as the melody of the acoustic guitar in "Once" kicks in, a song between country and folk, reflecting the spirit of the entire album, namely a very warm and enveloping style, but by no means boring.

"Dancing on the Floor" returns to a much more jazz style, where the guitars make you want to dance, and the voice creates an extremely happy mood.

"Reflection" and "Hole in My Soul" speak of love through two very different styles, the former through a peaceful folk, while the latter in a much more frenetic way, where organ, guitar, and bass intertwine in a funky base, while the voice embraces the blues.

"Over You" is instead the most pop and radio-friendly track of the album, where voice and guitar dance in a slow blues reminiscent of John Mayer.

With "Try," we move to an electric blues, sweet and warm, which dispels any doubt about the possible influences of the Bridgeport guitarist on Pessino.

"Together" starts subdued to then give way to an explosion of brass in the chorus, while "Dad" closes the album in the same way "Butterflies" opened it, with a light jazz that imparts a sense of peace and tranquility to a song intended to tell a different kind of love compared to the previous tracks, a love directed towards a father.
