After accompanying Battiato in his experimental period and playing guitar and bass in forgettable albums such as Fetus and Pollution, Gianni Mocchetti participated in the 1979 edition of Sanremo, an edition forgotten too quickly along with some artists that perhaps we shouldn't have dismissed so swiftly: that same edition featured, in addition to Mocchetti, the participation of a young Enzo Carella and a not so young but still brilliant Franco Fanigliulo.
Anyway, as we were saying, in 1979 this album titled "Andare" was released with arrangements by Pino Massara and lyrics by Alberto Salerno ("Io vagabondo", "Lei verrà", "Io nascerò", "Senza pietà", and "Menta e rosmarino", just to name a few), featuring good rock that is very catchy, at times progressive, with some highlights such as the Sanremo entry "Talismano nero", which did not place at the event, and the track "Bianco" (which were also released together in a precious '79 45 RPM); it's full of equally enjoyable tracks such as the ballads "Il balcone di Marta" and "Angelina non lo sa". Overall, out of 10 tracks, none are to be discarded.
The album, today, is wonderful to listen to! Probably at the time, the Italian rock market was already full of other great artists and there was little space for a "Gianni Mocchetti any day", today we would pay gold for music like this, even just a reissue would likely make us happy.
