Gianluca Becuzzi concludes his trilogy dedicated to covers of artists he deeply loves with DeepeR. The previous chapters (RedrumM and TheeneD) were released in tandem with the experimenter Massimo Olla, whereas, in this case, the Livorno artist finishes alone. This particular album offers an overview of his influences. The style of these reinterpretations alternates between covers not far from the original spirit and others that are disorienting and almost heretical. The instruments used are guitar and some programmed sounds. Conversely, some songs are performed with just voice. The version of "Warszawa" by David Bowie and Brian Eno is perhaps one of the most faithful. It is one of the most famous songs by these two artists (it also appeared in the soundtrack of Christiane F.). "Heatworms" by Coil is undoubtedly a peculiar choice. This is certainly not one of their most famous compositions (it is a dramatic confession of John Balance's alcoholism in which the phrase "There's too much blood in my alcohol" is obsessively repeated) and a very shortened vocal version is presented. "The Hall Of Mirrors", a classic by Kraftwerk from Trans Europa Express, here takes on a martial and less electronic breath, although it remains recognizable. "The Garden" by Einstuerzende Neubauten is another vocal interpretation. We then find a curious medley between "Funerale a Praga" by Faust'O and "The Honour Of Silence" by Death In June: the final result, with its epic atmospheres, is not without charm. After "The Overlead" by Talking Heads (I didn't imagine they were among his favorites) and "Heartbreak Hotel" by Elvis Presley (in its way a tribute to the origins of rock'n'roll, although here the version of John Cale is "covered"), it is entrusted to the long "We Will Fall" by The Stooges from their first legendary album. "We Will Fall" was a long and monotonous trip. Becuzzi turns the American group's track into a sort of religious mantra, almost a mystical chant that seems celebrated in some remote monastery. It is a very intense version that leaves no one indifferent. With this album, Becuzzi seeks an original path in the interpretation of song form. Everyone is free to judge the final result. It is worth noting the contribution of Cristiano Bocci in the first and last track of the album. Meanwhile, Becuzzi is working on the follow-up to In Between and Mana, two albums that showcase his musical research side.
