The Ghosts are an English band that has recently started making waves in Italy with the single "The world is outside," which plays 124 times on Mtv and on Radio Kiss Kiss, Radio Latte e Miele, etc... It's yet another English band that is being pushed by the damn music market, which dictates what we should listen to, what to appreciate, and especially what to BUY!!! Simple and clean songs, classic britpop style that says nothing new ten years after the great successes made in England, a predictable and catchy sound that might only attract a 16-year-old kid who listens to Povia and Subsonica.
Nowadays it's easy to succeed: for the Ghosts, all it took was to take a bit of Roxette, flagrantly copy the mediocre and whiny Keane (am I wrong, or does the singer even have the same face as the fat guy who sang "Everybody's changing"??), throw in a little something of Blur, Oasis, and the like, and voilà, done. A nice reheated mishmash ready to be pitched and overly praised by television, advertising, and record labels. A neat innovative and absolutely original CD that will sell 3 million copies and will make those bastards and all those who profit from their nothingness rich.
The breakthrough band of the year is ready to take Italy by storm: the press praises them, they will be guests on Trl very soon, and it's rumored (I know it's an incredible scoop, you won't believe it!!) that they will also sing at the festivalbar!!!uuu!!! The festivalbar is a serious thing!! I love the festivalbar!! Just like I love Mtv, I love the record labels, I love Ligabue, I love CD live (Dj Alvin quite cheers up my Saturday afternoon!!), I love the millions and millions of disgusting kids who buy Gigi d'Alessio's CDs and wet their pants. Screw those idiots who listen to Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, and the Beatles!!
In conclusion, it's not worth talking about this CD which is neither here nor there, which adds nothing to an already too broad and mediocre musical landscape, which possesses no originality whatsoever: it's simple and utterly banal pop, insipid, useless and it isn't worth a damn!! It was just an excuse to protest against the entire swarm of singers, critics, audience, and mass media that a group like this represents!! These things have been said over and over again, but as long as there are people reviewing James Blunt and Paolo Meneguzzi, there will always be a need to emphasize it again!!
