Ghost, a year after the success of "Meliora," an album I had also reviewed giving it 3 stars, which today I might increase to 4, and with a Grammy for the single "Cirice," have returned to work releasing "Popestar," an EP that essentially consists of the single "Square Hammer" and 4 good reinterpretations of tracks by artists of various genres, which I think do not make much sense to review. This is already the band's second EP, which apparently uses EPs as interludes between one album and another, like Steven Wilson with "4 1/2."

The single is the classic track you appreciate for some aspects and hate for others: it's a nice piece regarding Papa Emeritus III's vocals, the lyrics are not bad until the chorus starts, the music is excellent (simple but useful keyboard interventions, excellent drums, and a good guitar solo) but it has several negative points, such as the chorus being too innocent and the quite unpleasant riff that precedes it.

I hope the band has only had a moment of light and shade and does not worsen by preferring easy success over quality music.
