Ghali is a versatile artist, capable of moving from the hardest trap to catchy club songs.
And one of the greatest demonstrations of this versatility is his first album, simply called "Album".
Preceded by the singles "Ninna nanna" (a record-breaking song on Spotify) and "Pizza kebab", and released in May 2017, the album was (rightly) loved by both the public and critics.
The album ranges from purely trap songs ("Pizza kebab", "Ricchi dentro", "Ninna nanna"), more upbeat songs ("Happy Days" and "Habibi", the title of which means "beloved"), to touching songs that speak of trust and loneliness ("Lacrime"). The lyrics, on the other hand, talk about success, ambition, and contrast poverty and wealth, gloomy sadness and carefree joy, street life and the luck (and hard work) used to reach the top.
No features are present in the album, an unusual choice, and the beats are all produced by Charlie Charles. Each beat of this album closely reflects the mood of its "belonging song" and fits well with its lyrics (a sign of Charlie's versatility).
An interesting fact is that "Lacrime" is placed between "Habibi" and "Happy Days" in the album, which once again demonstrates the artist's originality: moving from a track with pop nuances and a strong radio appeal to another track that talks about loneliness, sadness but also hope, with typically trap tones (although not as gloomy as, for example, the early tracks by Sfera Ebbasta) as if nothing happened, indicates that the album has a certain quality. Therefore, the album does not have a true nature, it does not have clear musical influences, but it is an original product and can very well be said to have established Ghali as one of the most talented and interesting (if not the most talented and interesting) Italian rappers of the new generation, capable of reaching beyond (just think of the various features, even international, he has done) while remaining faithful to his own genre.
