I fondly remember the first record I bought, it was the beginning of a passion that has never waned, thanks to albums like this one, rock d'auteur, a tasty and exquisite meal, a shining diamond.
Yes, Cloud Nine is a special record, a collection of seductive and melodious songs, here among these tracks you can once again feel that majestic and magical atmosphere typical of the Beatles. The songs stand out for originality, melody, and supported by ingenious arrangements, each becomes a small masterpiece, true symphonies of pop culture.
The title track opens the show with Clapton mastering his guitar, while Harrison gives a personal touch to this sensual blues with his distinctive vocal tone. Then from the second track, the album flows more and more into an exciting whirl of increasingly stimulating melodies, like that of "That's What It Takes", framed by sublime or celestial harmonies as in "Just For Today" and even fabulous in "When We Was Fab", an ironic homage to bygone times.
"Wreck Of Hesperus", "Fish On The Sand", and "Devil's Radio" are tight rock 'n' roll pieces, sung and played to perfection.
A special mention certainly goes to "Someplace Else" because when Harrison manages to reach these expressive heights, it's a feast for the ears.
The famous and immortal "Got My Mind Set On You" closes the album, a song I always listen to with great pleasure.
I remember when "Got My Mind Set On You" was the theme of a music show on TV, I recall that man sitting in an armchair playing the guitar while money rained on his head and armors hinted at dance steps.
A video that stuck with me and changed my life, I was only eleven, I went out and bought the record.
