Georg Friedrich Händel (1685–1759) was a German-born Baroque composer who spent much of his career in London and is known for operas, oratorios and orchestral suites such as Messiah, Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks.

Born 1685, died 1759. German-born, later naturalised British. Composed the Water Music for a 1717 Thames performance and Music for the Royal Fireworks for 1749 celebrations. Renowned for operas, oratorios (notably Messiah) and instrumental works.
