It had been eagerly anticipated for a long time. Ten interminable months, yet they flew by waiting for this triple DVD to be released, a gift that Genesis has always given their fans. Released in European markets on May 24, 2008, the official DVD showcases the concert performed by Genesis at the Circus Maximus in Rome on July 14, 2007, in front of thousands and thousands of people who came from all over Italy and beyond to witness the event. We know well that this Genesis reunion with Phil Collins led the five musicians (with Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson as golden live guests) to tour European cities from June to July 2007 and then the United States from September to October the same year.

The contents of this gem are nothing short of splendid: a 26-page booklet with photos, the two concert DVDs, and a third DVD entitled "Come Rain or Shine," which is an almost 140-minute documentary depicting the making of the tour, with interviews, backstage footage, and more. The two concert DVDs contain the complete setlist of the tour, which was never changed, plus each DVD has bonus extras featuring the musicians during rehearsals, with interviews, soundchecks, and much more. Very enticing.

Perhaps the only flaw of this work is the absence of the multi-angle feature and there is too much footage of the audience. But this is just a detail. The musicians are in great form, showcasing Tony Banks, the great keyboardist; Mike Rutherford, significant both on the lead guitar and bass; Daryl Stuermer, an excellent touring member and faithful for thirty years like the drummer Chester Thompson. And Phil Collins? Being a point of reference for yours truly, I noticed his great professionalism: good in singing, although the original tones were lowered, and also commendable in drumming, but not like 16-21 years ago. He seemed a bit stiff and rigid. But it's known that Phil doesn't play drums as he used to, and performing those songs again after 16 years required a lot of effort and sacrifice.
