LA RECENSIONE

Six young men from Alessandria, after spending a few years in a subterranean garage absorbing humidity, searching for their musical identity through covers (Pearl Jam, Mad Season, Queens of the Stone Age, Marlene Kuntz ...) and endless jam sessions, risking every time being crushed and beheaded by the killer swing door, delve into their wallets to produce this demo, the deranged offspring of their minds.

Inquietudine comprises five well-studied, played, and produced tracks, which can be defined as alternative indie rock that draws a bit from the more melancholic Afterhours, with a dash of 80s dark new wave sounds from early Litfiba.

Luca "Ian Gillan" (not because he sings like him, that’s a different story...) on vocals, Max "in search of the lost distorted effect" on lead guitar, Frentzen "Pearl Jam man" on rhythm guitar, Claudio "Dark man" on keyboards, Gus "Stone age man" on bass, and Fabrizio "Magic & light touch man" on drums create this product which, in my opinion, deserves a listen and a bit of attention in the underground of the Web, where anyone can share their music and thoughts freely without imposed constraints or censorship.

A subtle guitar arpeggio introduces "Inquietudine," followed by gentle and shadowy keyboard harmonies and soft touches of drums and bass, while the voice enters last, with low and subdued tones, deep, almost whispered at times. Everything gradually takes off, the guitars gain depth in the chorus, and the voice rises majestically and powerfully, then gives way to the guitars and reemerges in the distorted finale.

This is roughly the compositional style of Garageolympo, tracks that start subdued and dark, imbued with a subtle bucolic beauty, claustrophobic and unsettling, enough to make you feel trapped in a box with their music and to explode it together with Luca's scream ("Ciò che mi dai"), or get entangled in the occasionally psychedelic pace of "Ogni volta."

Take a look if you want and I leave the judgment up to you...
