Funeral Fog… as a famous comedian says: the question is not who, the question is why! Yes, why did the individual behind the Funeral Fog project decide to play? Couldn't they have devoted themselves to something else? Believe me, it would have been decidedly better!
Given that this musical project I'm writing about is rather underground, I could very well spare myself the review and devote my time to far more recent matters, but considering that this pseudo-musician has decided to release material, and despite the underground nature of Funeral Fog, there exists a quite extensive following of blacksters who for some obscure reason idolize him, it seemed appropriate to share my opinion on this absolutely pointless musical project.
Before I start commenting on this album, there's another remark I have to make: Funeral Fog is a famous song by Mayhem, so there are two possibilities: either this individual, musically, is stuck twenty years in the past, or he is the man with the least creativity on this planet. Probably both hypotheses are true, just listen to a few minutes of his music to realize.
In essence, “Hidden by the Forest” is a true plagiarism of the early works of Burzum and Darkthrone. I write plagiarism not without reason, I am not just referring to a pronounced musical influence, but to outright theft of riffs! Anyone familiar with the historic Norwegian scene of the '90s will immediately notice that Funeral Fog has stolen a bit here and there, added this or that note, pasted and packaged it all with a horrible cover.
Enough, I'm tired of wasting words on this stuff, I just hope that some admirer of Funeral Fog or Funeral Fog himself gets a chance to read my words and feel ridiculous enough to make me happy.
