The Profile

American rock band formed in 1989, known for the singles 'Shimmer' and 'Hemorrhage (In My Hands)'. Founding members include guitarist Carl Bell and bassist Jeff Abercrombie; Brett Scallions was the long-time lead singer.

Debut album Sunburn (1998) included the breakout single 'Shimmer'. The band released subsequent albums including Something Like Human and Natural Selection. Lineup changes followed the early 2000s, including the departure of singer Brett Scallions; a later project called Refueled involved former members and an agreement revived the Fuel name. The band has been associated with Sony/Epic for major releases.

The reviews praise Sunburn as a sincere and convincing debut, highlighting themes of anger, despair and loneliness. 'Shimmer' is singled out as the signature, career-launching song. Later years brought lineup changes and a revived use of the Fuel name.
