Maybe tomorrow you'll leave the house. You get hit and die instantly. Maybe your neighbor forgets the gas on, you light a candle and explode. Maybe tonight you take a bath, slip in the tub and crack your head on the bidet. Maybe a madman shoots you on the street. Maybe you go to the bank and some criminal kills you to show others he's not joking. Maybe you drink a Coke and there's strychnine in it. Maybe some idiot lights a cigarette while you're refueling. Life can be destroyed at any moment by a stroke of bad luck. Don't watch the news always thinking it happens to others, it could happen to you too. Tomorrow. In an hour. Now. What bad luck.
And you're wasting time thinking about what's best for the future, what's the most right or wise thing to do? You're reluctant to do anything, but you do it because tomorrow you'll think, "I did well." And if there's no tomorrow? ...Eh?
Wisdom can turn out to be just a big pile of bullshit. Live for the day and plan the future based on what you want today, don't choose what you want today based on what you believe is better for the future, because today you are here, tomorrow we don't know. We all know it’s like this, these are concepts as true as they are overused, so worn out that we forget them. Out of fear of making mistakes, fear of errors, fear of not caring about anything and doing as we please, fear of going alone towards risk without following the rules of peaceful living. Those who live peacefully, have less fun, and those who die early after living peacefully - if there’s something after death - surely kill themselves with regrets. But we forget, let it go, we're too lazy to take risks, better not to think about it and follow the usual routine. Never risk something that, yes, we like, and maybe even a lot, but it's too complicated to carry on.
The supreme entity governing our lives created Hard Rock in the '70s to remind us we must live, and in the '90s endowed it with distortions and full sound that pumps up the speakers to keep us from stopping. And we just need to remember to give it a listen every now and then, to remind us that life is short, and we must enjoy things when they are here and not regret not having done so when it’s too late. We need to remember to feel to remember to remember. And care little about the rest.
Have you reached the end still alive? Good for you, but it won't last long.
