A couple of days ago, I was reading on various forums: "we're lost, Hip Hop now sucks in Italy... etc...", clearly if today's B-Boys are Marracash and Space-One, it's not worth giving pearls to pigs.
Let me introduce you to an album, released in 1999, approximately 9 years ago, it is one of the most beautiful albums (in my opinion) in Italy, as far as double h is concerned, named 950, the artist who curated this gem, Fritz da Cat... yes indeed one of the most talented beatmakers/discJokey in Italy, who disappeared from the scene in 2001, the year of the release of Basley Click.
The instrumentals of General Fritz used by his army of Mcs, some of whom are now more mercenaries, but that's another story.
The Battalion is made up of 14 rappers and 2 crews (CDB-Lyricalz) responsible for the microphone.. 14 tracks including an instrumental (name: Omega) representing the apotheosis, the pinnacle of rap made in Italy, in terms of the quality of lyrics, vocal qualities, and quality of production speaking of beats, beats that vary accompanied by sweet melodies and accompaniments (l'Incognita di Neffa) to stronger and more "charged" beats (Lord Bean- street Opera).
Perhaps the most important feature of this album is precisely this, it does not bore you, because it varies and fades, between different voices, metrics, and flows according to completely opposite styles, also regarding the themes (Se non fumassi - Yoshi), (Cose Preziose - Kaos), (Una Minima - Fabri Fibra)... Fabri showcases and highlights quality in writing the text and an early flow, I quote a famous quote FROM THIS TRACK: Fabri Fibra joint weighing a pound net, I don't sing with you at the jams, do you know why? You bring bad luck!...(on the decks, we find DJ Inesha here).
If you feel a void, I'll fill it immediately, JOE CASSANO (1973-1999 R.I.P.) and INOKI with the track "Notte e Giorno" which still incredibly accompanies thousands of B-Boys in their headphones, a track that is also present in the posthumous album "DIO LODATO" by Joe Cassano.
Last but not least, I mention the feats of PIOTTA, DJ LUGI, CHICO MD (an incredibly beautiful track "Dopo noi la quiete"), Bassi Maestro, Turi, Sean, Polare, Lyricalz, Yoshi.
In this album, as enthusiasts will well know, there is "COSE PREZIOSE", in my opinion, the most beautiful rap song ever, by the king of kings Kaos, I've heard everything, pearls of all kinds like "this song is dedicated to his mother" or "no to Neffa!".....I draw a discreet veil, being a fanatic of lyrics, I dare to say that this song is simply dedicated to Hip Hop... to the true double h... made with heart, because as Kaos says: If you truly believe in this thing, you will get something back, but if you use it, you will get a big kick in the ass....
